Troubleshooting

Using the Swivel Credential Provider is very similar to the standard Windows Login.

Logon

The PINsafe logon requires the user to enter a one-time code in addition to their standard Windows password

Logon Dialog

To perform a single-channel logon first enter your username then click the Request Image link.

To perform a dual-channel on-demand logon first enter your username then click the Request String link (not shown in the screenshot).

If offline authentication is enabled when the Swivel server is not available, then clicking Request Image will send a request to the Swivel server first, and if no response is received, a local security string will be used instead. However, it can take some time for the request to the Swivel server to time out. If you know that the Swivel server is unavailable, you can check the Offline mode checkbox, and the image request will be sent locally only, not to the Swivel server.

Retrieving a TURing image

Enter your Windows password and Swivel one-time code and click ">" to logon. If you find it difficult to read the displayed TURing image click the "Start Session" link again to request a new one.

Entering credentials

Dual Channel
If you are a dual-channel user, for example if you retrieve a security string via an SMS to your mobile phone, then skip the TURing image retrieval stage and directly enter your password and one-time code.

Change Password

Swivel Credential Provider version 4 provides a separate screen to allow you to change your Swivel PIN as opposed to your Windows password.

Normally, when you hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete, you get a screen like this:

Ctrl+Alt+Delete dialog

To change your password, you select the "Change a password..." option and get this:

Change Password Dialog

Changing your PIN
If you wish to change your Swivel PIN instead then click the "Other Credentials" button, to get this page.

Change Password Credentials

Click the "Change PIN" option, and you will get the following page:

Change PIN Dialog

Enter the name of the user whose PIN you want to change, and click "Start Session" to get a TURing image

Change PIN Dialog

Enter the one-time code corresponding to your old PIN and the one-time code for your new PIN twice, and click the arrow button to change your PIN.
