Recovering admin console access by promoting a user to admin

Overview

This details how to regain admin access when all available admin accounts are locked by promoting an exiting user or creating a new admin user.

Prerequisites

  • Working PINsafe server with admin console login screen
  • External data source for users and admin users with synchronisation and known login details
  • Transport mechanism for new users

Symptoms

Cannot login to the PINsafe admin console through any admin accounts

Solution

1. Move an existing user in an external data source from a user to an admin, wait for sychronisation to occur then try to login with their credentials on the PINsafe admin console.

2. Or Add a new admin user to the external data source group for admin, wait for sychronisation and a new PIN to be sent by their transport mechnism, then login.
